Common 7 3l Ford Power Stroke Crank No Start Causes 7 posts · joined 2013. #1 · mar 24, 2013. 2002 7.3 powerstroke, stock work truck. 244k miles. new fuel pump, fuel filter, cps sensor. i had a bad fuel pump and cranked it a lot. replaced fuel pump and it started and ran. test driving: it died on me this morning a block from my house, pulled it home, checked hpop level it was pretty empty. 1999 2003 7.3l power stroke diesel low icp pressure when cranking no start 2000 f 350 177*** miles will not start unless you soak a rag in gas and put it in the air intake it starts and runs fine i hooked up the scanner and watched the icp pressure when cracking and it only reached 175 psi and it needs to be 450.

2003 7 3 Powerstroke No Start Running Issue Iprођ Tried to start crank no start. hpop reservoir full, fuel pressure 60 65psi (mechanical gauge), battery voltage good, engine rpm over 150. then cranked engine a bunch of times with ae connected to vehicle. icp pressure only reaching 280 300 psi. dead headed hpop easily reached 1500 2000 psi while cranking. When it comes to diesel engine hierarchy, we feel it's fair to say ford's 1994 2003 7.3l power stroke engine sits squarely in a middle space among all of the oil burners that have powered heavy. The icp will produce an output of 0 5v. basically, the 7.3 power stroke icp, ipr, and hpop provide enough oil pressure to the rails to ensure the 7.3 injectors actuate. when the ford diesel icp is not functioning you’ll likely get a crank but no start situation. this is because there isn’t enough injection pressure building to deliver fuel. The 7.3 likes to eat these up and melt them so unplug them and inspect for melting on either the plug or the pigtail and replace as necessary. type 2 next rebuild or replace your ipr (injector pressure regulator) they often stick which then doesnt allow enough oil to reach the injectors which then may cause a no start but usually just results.
