None. dec 14, 2009. #1. i'm buying my neighbor's 1993 eurovan for a song. it's in great shape with the original 2.5l 5 cyl motor and 140,000 miles. it should last a while longer but it gets horrible fuel economy (17 20 mpg) so i'm naturally considering a tdi. i've heard the 5 cyl diesels & tdi's drop right in, the tdi needing a new ecu.

'93 diesel canadian spec eurovans can be imported relatively easily (compared to most non us vehicles), but there was also a 95 97 commercial van diesel w a different engine that is not. Posted: mon oct 26, 2020 9:22 am post subject: re: 93 weekender tdi conversion build thread my conversion is still slow going. i picked up my engine block from the machine shop, it took about 3 weeks for him to measure clearances, hot tank the block, hone cylinders, install the intermediate shaft bearings and install the new pistons on the rods. 15 september 2015. a transmission is being imported. the block is back from the machine shop. rebuild parts have been received. i'll be updating the progress of converting a 1993 volkswagen eurovan (t4) to diesel power. while this has been a dream for a while, take a look at the backstory to see the impetus for the begining the swap now.

Our next tdi conversion project: a stock 2.4l diesel (aab eng, 78 hp stock) 93 transporter (canada import) and 5 spd 02b trans. they really don't get any more apathetic than this power plant, 78 hp pushing a 4000lb slug though absolutes don't work so well with me as i recall the 82 1.6 48hp diesel vanagon experiment .
