A little rnd project based on one of my favorite characters in anime history and in general. son goku, aka kakarotto! this is essentially my love letter to dragonball z and to toriyama. i've had past experience with dbz modeling and always wanted to try and push further with cg cel shading techniques. i started with the idea of doing a little bust of just the head and torso before i knew. The thing about buu though, he’s so freaking durable that even 99.9999% destruction is essentially meaningless. that would’ve been a huge gamble. of course that wouldn’t be the first time goku has gambled the fate of the world. he was dead that time though, so he had a more durable body and more stamina efficiency.

The reference in my head for earlier vegeta was done by katsumi aoshima (i think). it was the version used for vegeta’s ani mayhem card and i thought it expressed vegeta’s arrogance without the rat look just perfectly. anyway, enough ranting. this is super nice work. would love to see an updated animation with this look at this quality.
