Aug 23, 2012. messages. 5. aug 24, 2012. #5. re: 1987 astroglass 166v. i haven't looked at the motor "closely", but have examined somewhat, it is pretty clean. it's a 79' (believe, would have to check papers) mercury 1500, 150hp. i turned the motor manually, and it is free and not locked. So i'm working towards separating the two halves and having a lot of problems. it seems to be bonded at several points through the boat under storage compartments and such. anyone got any ideas on what to cut and where? has this ever been done on an '87 166v? this picture is facing aft from the port side looking towards the starboard aft corner.
