The inner sphere is the human inhabited part of space in the science fiction universe of battletech. it is described to be a spherical region centered around the sol system and extending roughly 500 light years outwards in all directions, containing somewhere between 2000 3000 star systems (depending on whether formerly inhabited and periphery worlds are included).

Mechwarrior Battletech Online Warrior Mecha Robot Sci Fi 1mechw My goal was to make a map without black lines, using only colour to define borders. this was the first step in a larger project i've begun working on that'll chart the evolution of the map throughout the years. beyond that though i want to use these maps to tell the history of the battletech universe from a top down perspective. Inches (open) makes it a bit easier plus it makes measuring easier. just a tape versus counting. probably help speed up the game. probably makes los easier as well however with turning in classic will mess it up, with no hex facings to make it clear. switching entirely to alpha strike can speed it up obviously. About. this is a map of the inner sphere, the region of space inhabited by humans in the battletech universe. it was inspired by the upcoming game battletech and will hopefully help both newcomers and returning fans to (re )familiarize themselves with the universe quickly and enjoyably. it can also be used for rpg campaigns and the like. Another thing i'd like to admit is i'm fairly certain i went too far with terrain. the ghost bear had a hard time maneuvering, as he was not used to a playing area with that terrain density. i think it looks great, but i will try to distribute terrain over a larger area, and make it less uniform.
