I think this artist manages to capture the old 'monster' style quite well. compared to how charizard x actually looks, the ops link has a number of older styings much smaller feautures (such as the eyes), old style fire on the tail, and a general edgier feel to the art (the feet etc). not to mention the pose has more movement in it like much.
