The way i understand it, eco printing is a form of natural dyeing where the colors from plant material are transferred to paper or fabric via steaming or boiling. (if anyone out there has a better definition, by all means let me know). eco leaf printing was first created (discovered?) by fiber artist and teacher, india flint. For some basics of eco printing check my post here. step #1: preparing the silk fabric. silk is known as a protein fibre since it made by animals; silk worm. protein fibres are easier to take dye and printing so they perform quite well with just a dip (at least 30 minutes) in vinegar water (about a 1 : 3 ratio water to vinegar).

Unravel, dry and enjoy. once you are done steaming your eco print, you can remove the tied strings, unravel them and slowly remove all of your dye materials. rinse with plenty of running water to remove all iron residue. you can then place your garment in a cool, shaded place to dry. once your fabric has dried, you can finally enjoy the fruits.
