There is something formidable about a vintage elektromesstechnik 927 or 930 broadcast turntable. they look the business. all skeletal chassis and exposed innards – yet, unlike other marques when laid bare – imbued with a deadly serious composure despite the lack of electronic modesty. the hammertone grey finish, the oversized 44 centimetre.

The emt phono are good for broadcasting and technical use, the 139st is a bit more on the good side, but none of the emt preamp are exceptional. emt price are too high (4000 to 11000 usd is just crazy), it's an archivist tt or a collector dream (or emt fan) but any other tt will beat the 930. just grab a vintage nice looking tt, put a good arm. The original tonearm that was with that turntable was probably the ortofon rma 229, a wonderful tonearm that you can find second hand for about 700 euros. i would choose that one as it fits the emt 930 like a glove, i do prefer it to the emt 929. logged.
