Drawing An Eye Using Charcoal And Graphite Pencils Pencildrawing In this easy step by step tutorial i show you how you can draw eyes with charcoal or a pencil. i use charcoal like this but you can use whatever you have. you can follow this tutorial and then apply these steps to other eyes you want to draw. i suggest you use reference pictures to practice your eye drawings. The tutorial featured on this page is on drawing eyes using charcoal. in this demonstration, i am using vine charcoal, compressed charcoal (pencil form), and white compressed charcoal (also pencil form) on gray drawing paper. the tooth of the paper is relatively smooth and is about equivalent to 80 lb. drawing paper. Step 1: start with your 2b pencil. using curved lines, draw in your upper and lower eyelashes. begin along the upper or lower eyelid and curve your line outwards from the eye (see arrows). to create a rich, dark pupil (center), use your 6b pencil. switch back to 2b and draw lines radiating from the pupil out to the edge of the iris.
