Fluency Task Cards Oral Reading Fluency Practice Science Of Reading To celebrate the sprinkling of spring days that we’ve had, i created a free spring version of my daily fluency task cards! (grab this free download by clicking here or the image above!) students can complete these as a fluency warm up or for take home fluency practice. there’s a task card log included for student accountability. Day 1: accuracy. on this day, we focus on reading accurately as a component of fluency. i define that for them as: if i’m reading accurately, i don’t eliminate words, word endings, or word beginnings. i don’t add words that don’t belong. in other words, fluent readers don’t make very many mistakes when they are reading. First, i decided to choose a whole class book (in this case ‘wonder’ by rj palacio) and then set about using monday’s lesson to focus on reading fluency. here are the steps i chose: 1.) teacher models reading the selected chapter (s) and explicitly asks children to listen in on expressive phrasing, punctuation and stresses on words. 2.). The complete collection is listed below and available in my shop. there is also a “scoop it” fluency phrasing task card bundle if you’re interested in grabbing all the sets at once and at a discounted price. set 1: pre primer (dolch), short vowel cvc words. set 2: primer (dolch), short vowel blends & digraphs words.

Here are 20 activities designed to help all your learners develop their reading fluency in your classroom. 1. reader's theatre character voice practice. to improve students' fluency with varied speaking voices, have them engage with a reader's theatre script. explain what it means to be aware of context. After the one minute mark, the reader marks the rate on the graph. 1 minute: second partner reads orally while the other partner reads along silently and marks mistakes and stopping point. mark rate on graph. repeat three times, for a total of 6 readings between partners. 8.
