16 posts · joined 2009. #1 · oct 17, 2010. my 99.5 250 hp 7.3 has just started doing the long crank issue. truck has always started on the second to third time the engine turns over. now its 8 or 10 times before it starts. i went to the store and it started fine, went to leave store, and it was 8 10 times and has been that way for a week now. When it comes to diesel engine hierarchy, we feel it's fair to say ford's 1994 2003 7.3l power stroke engine sits squarely in a middle space among all of the oil burners that have powered heavy.
1999 2003 7.3l power stroke diesel 7.3 won't start when hot i have a 1999 f350 with a 7.3l in it. a week ago i stopped at the pump and topped of my tank and when i went to restart it it it would crank and not fire. i had it towed and replaced the cam sensor with an aftermarket one. 2001 7.3 crank, no start when hot. i've looked though quite a few threads but can't seem to find one with my same symptoms. 2001 f 250 7.3 with 390,000. i've only owned this one for about a year. i got screwed on it with a fake carfax showing 120,000 miles. so, needless to say i'm kinda stuck with it. 1999 2003 7.3l power stroke diesel 7.3 long crank hot and cold so i spent the weekend resealing the hpop and fuel bowl on my 2000 7.3 (260,000miles). i did this after have the idm and both wiring harnesses under the valve covers replaced at a shop. prior to the work on the hpop and fuel bowl it started like a. When hot it will build 2 5 psi off the starter then will immediately climb to 25 27 psi once finely starting. the tach registers rpms when cranking as well as the scanner sees rpm when cranking. the cps was replaced with a blue purple ford motorcraft sensor during the rebuild.
