In this video, i demonstrate a complete transmission fluid exchange on this 2016 ford f150 utilizing the transmission's oil cooler return line and a 5 gallon. Basically disconnect the return side of the transmission cooler line, start up the truck and empty out the pan. remove the pan, clean and replace filter. once back together, fill up the pan and start up the truck again. do this one more time or until you see the color of the new fluid. connect you cooler line back up and fill up the pan. 7. to flush the transmission, i used 5 8" inner diameter clear tubing (10 feet). i bought mine at my local home depot (~ $5). also, a 5 gallon bucket comes in handy to catch the used atf. 8. i unbolted the lines going into and out of the transmission cooler (behind the front bumper). the fittings were 7 8". 9. 2015 2017 f150: transmission fluid flush (6r80) time: approx 1 hr. difficulty: moderate difficult (the cooler line can be a bugger to disconnect) cost: $100 250. function. an automatic transmission is a complex hydraulic pump with gears, clutches, bearings, valves, and actuators. the fluid in an automatic transmission is used to apply pressure.
