Since 2008, david has illustrated more that 40 paper doll books for paper studio press as well as paper dolls for magazines, museums, paper doll conventions and special events. his recognizable style is a very deliberate re creation of the lush, lavish technique employed by artists during the 1940s and '50s, the golden years of paper dolls. David wolfe, 1941 2023, was a multi talented high profile paper doll artist, an accomplished writer, acknowledged fashion expert and historian specializing in vintage hollywood movie costume design. after a long and successful career as a trend forecaster and fashion illustrator, he retired to california where he devoted his time to paper dolls.
