Hike To Pagat Caves Guam Photos Global Girl Travels Narrative. one of the most popular and historical hikes on guam is the pagat caves trail. this trail is well known with the various tour companies on guam that shuttle tour groups to hike through the jungle to the remains of a historic chamorro village. additionally next to the village is a cave with a fresh water swimming hole in it. Here's a great video of my hike to the coast and swimming in the caverns in pagat cave in guam!. Drive north on rt 15 for 6.3 miles from the intersection of rts 10 and 15. at the bend in the road, park along rt 15. the journey to pagat caves is not a very long hike, just over a mile, but it is fairly steep in places and drops down 400 feet in elevation. you can’t miss the sign marking the start of the hike. The trail is relatively flat for the first 0.3 miles, then begins a fairly steep descent to the cave at 0.65 miles. there are ropes to assist with the descent and the ascent on the way home. from here you can climb down and wade in the cave, or continue the 0.25 miles to the coast for a view of waves crashing under a coral arch.

Pagat caves is, in a word, stunning. after i had gotten all my shots, i carefully handed the camera to my friend and went under the water. the cave was pitch black but the water crystal clear with our three flash lights illuminating it all (hello, sony a7s low light performance!). what an experience. but it wasn’t over yet…. The eerie ancient caves and natural sea arch in pagat guam is a beautiful hike and unique experience. there are two caverns, make sure you bring water shoes.
