Step 1: measure your mobile home’s perimeter. measuring the perimeter of a mobile home is simple. the perimeter of a home is found by adding all of its sides together. for example, let’s say a single wide is 16 feet wide and 72 feet long so i would add: 72 72 16 16 12 12 = 200 feet. 1. determine a place for mounting. place bottom edge of the back rail just below bottom edge of the home. this location must offer solid support for attaching and wind load pressure for panels and rails. 2. keep the back rail straight and level. snap a chalk line around the home to guide the top edge of the back rail. Step 5 – start measuring. make a mark every 16 inches on the top rail using your measuring tape and a pen or sharpie. you’re measuring 16 inches as that is the width of each vinyl panel. at each 16 inch mark, take your measuring tape and write down the distance from the ground to the bottom of the top panel.
