Reaction score. 652. location. elizebethtown, pa. transmission cooling. the transmission fluid cooling system, without an auxiliary transmission fluid cooler (7a095), consists of: an intank fluid cooler inlet tube (7a030) a non repairable intank transmission fluid cooler. an intank fluid cooler return tube (7a031). I took the top line off and took the 3 plastic clips and two hangers off. i had to drop the sway bar to make it easier; feed top line through then bottom line and then re attach the hangers and clips. i used a hammer as a pry bar to put pressure against the top line into the transmission using the catalytic converter as a pivot point. replace.
Also, for anyone looking to add an external transmission cooler to your truck, you'll need the following parts: transmission oil cooler ford part #dl3z 7a095 a. inlet hose ford part #9l3z 7c410 b (this is the short piece of hose that connects the top of the transmission oil cooler to the radiator). Tips to install new transmission cooler lines. The lines are 3 8 i believe. you can use trans cooler hose and hose clamps, but be sure to double clamp them, they can blow off and make a big mess. a compression union would be better and a double flare union would be better yet. the lines are 5 16" you can use 5 16" preflared brake line from the parts store. Disconnect the return line from the transmission and using the fittings and clamps, connect it to one of the tubes on the derale cooler. from the other tube on the derale cooler, route the new line back to the return port on your transmission. i have included links to some faq articles on transmission coolers for you. expert reply by: patrick b.
