Best And Worst Cities For Your Skin Infographic In order to identify the best and worst cities for our skin, wallethub’s analysts compared the 150 most populated u.s. cities across four key areas: 1) skin cancer prevalence & contributors, 2) pollution & smoking, 3) climate and 4) skin health & care. with regard to our sample, please note that “city” includes city proper and excludes. Memphis, tennessee. 8. dallas, texas. 9. newark, new jersey. 10. new york, new york. three of the top 5 cities for the fewest incidences of melanoma per capita were in texas (el paso, san antonio, and austin). memphis, tennessee, and washington, dc, also have some of the fewest cases of melanoma. Los angeles on the other hand is ranked as the worst city for your skin, with a high pollution value of 12.6. it is the center of the nation's film and television industry and a popular tourist attraction, all bringing more pollution to its air. jackson, phoenix, arizona and houston also ranked badly for their high pollution levels. For better illustration, let’s equate the skin to an art canvas. if you were to paint reds or pinks on a light colored canvas, the colors will certainly still show up as red or pink. but, if you were to do the same on a black or dark colored canvas, the same colors probably won’t be too obvious. it’s the same with our beautiful dark skin.
