Installing Galvanized Aluminum Roofing On Tool Shed Mary G Holland

Hi everyone we are rounding the bases with this project and we are almost done! today we are going to trim and cut to size our 5 galvanized metal roofing she. Above: slide show of building a solar panel tool shed…to be edited chronologically soon!.

1. measure the length of the roof peak: to ensure a perfect fit, measure the length of the shed’s peak from end to end. 2. cut the ridge cap to length: if necessary, trim the ridge cap to match the length of the peak, leaving a slight overhang on both ends to cover the top ends of the side panels. 3. The strapping should go all the way across the roof. start installing your metal panels at a bottom corner. roofing screws are made to be self tapping, so you won’t need to drill starter holes for them. put your first panel in position so that it overhangs the edge your desired distance and is square to your frame. To install galvanized steel or corrugated metal roofing, you will need to lay the material down on the deck and then fasten it in place with screws or nails. the screws or nails should be spaced every 12 to 18 inches. be sure to pre drill holes for the screws or nails to prevent the metal from splitting. The general rule of thumb is that you need 80 screws per square of metal roofing. remember that a square of roofing is a 10×10 section of roof – or 100 square feet. if you know the total square footage of your roof, then multiply that number by .80 and you’ll get the total number of screws you need for the project.
