About this tutorial. finished size: 91" x 97". we’re celebrating 15 years of patchwork paradise with 15 of our most beloved patterns. this week’s remake is the irish chain! this week, we’re using feed sack inspired prints to recreate one of our favorite old fashioned quilts. irish chain is a 19th century classic made with simple nine patches. The top 2 quilts are made using the simple 9 patch block; the 3rd uses a 9 or 12 inch chain block, and the 4th quilt is the double irish chain block. (which i hope to release as a pattern soon.) pin this project for later. Here are some simple instructions to make a 63” x 63” single irish chain quilt. cut the fabric. to make 9” blocks, you will cut 125 pink 3 ½” squares and 100 white 3 ½” squares for the nine patch blocks, and 24 9 ½” white squares for the other blocks. piece the blocks. sew the 3 ½” squares together to create nine patch blocks.
