Infinity Kappa 8 Floorstanding Speakers Original Boxes Ec The Music The infinity reference standard kappa 8 is truly a superior speaker to the newer kappa 8.1; there are several reasons for this, mainly, the kappa 8s utilize the emit tweeters on the front and back of the cabinet. the kappa 8 also has better mid base control due to the polygraph. This review is for the kappa 8. fantastic speaker. tremendous sound stage, incredible low end, smooth, natural highs. you must feed these with more than 300 wpc though. anything less and you're not getting what they're capable of. they are huge but look gorgeous in their scandinavian oak cabinets. these things would easily cost more than 10k. A review of the kappa 8’s from the october 1987 issue of stereo review stated that “the impedance of these speakers was a nearly constant 2.4 to 2.8 ohms over the 1800 to 20,000 hz range and was one of the lowest speaker impedance they have measured.”. yikes!. There is no comparison between the kappa 8's and 2.5's when it comes to bass. the 8's hit lower and much louder than the watkins woofers, and they are more fuller sounding (ie: you can feel the bass). emim's are much faster and a little more accurate but i always tend to listen to my kappa 9's more. just my 2 cents. last edited: sep 6, 2016.
