Make sure that you are using strong upholstery thread for the fur, even on parts that get glued to the base. i figured i wouldn’t need too strong of thread since the fur was getting glued down anyway, but i’ve broken several stitches while trying to pull fur out of the seams and have had to go back and fix them. Shape! start on the back of the head, and mark where it starts curving inward. then do the same for the entire jaw line, stopping at the outer edge of your eye holes. should be a shape like this! repeat on the other side. i find it easiest to do one side, cut it out, and then trace the cut out piece on the other side.

After you make your marks, cut the foam out. remember to make your scissors perpendicular to the foam. do not cut at an angle. 3. glue it. take your hot glue and connect the two foam pieces together. slowly make your way up. only glue a little bit and hold it until dry. repeat until you get to the top. For doing this, i highly recommend you either use a “bucket head” style fursuit, or at least leave a lot of foamwork over the front of the head if you’re doing balaclava heads. kilcodo has a good video demonstrating this if you look up her channel, but if you don’t want to do an all foam head, at least leave a half inch layer of.
