I was born in 1979. i'm an 80s kid and 90s teen, strafing both decades in young memories. 80s kid. 90s youth. gen xer. i remember the 1980s like they were yesterday. my brother, born in 1981, shares most of my 80s memories, so i suppose he can claim an 80s childhood as well. As a child growing up in the 1980s (i was born in 1975 so the pivotal years of my childhood and teens, from ages 5 to 15, took place in this decade) our life was vastly different then from the world we know now. like seriously different. my kids who are now teenagers even call the 80s the “olden days”. To clothes: leggings with oversized shirts and a belt, poofy skirts, tucked in tops, pleated jeans, rolled up pants, and more. and accessories: side ponytails wrapped in scrunchies, hoop earrings, leggings, long socks, and bling. it’s all making a comeback for a reason. i get nostalgic about my 80s and 90s childhood.
