My Diy Audio Power Amplifier 2x68w 4ohm The lm3886 is a high performance audio power amplifier capable of delivering 68w of continuous average power to a 4Ω load and 38w into 8Ω with 0.1% thd n from 20hz–20khz. Two mjl3281 1302 output pairs make 250w 4ohm power possible with respect to soa (safe operating area) of the transistors. it is possible to use speaker complex load that does not fall below 4 ohm in its impedance frequency plot.

Diy Hifi Gainclone Power Amplifier 2x68w Class Ab A Lm3886 7 Thanks, daniel, so i've got the point: 1. using 4 ohm speakers will require more grave heatsink. 2. transformer stays the same for 4 and 8 ohm speakers, the only thing that changes (according to other chip amp threads) is v and a in accordance to some 120 150va transformer for a single channel using 3886. d. As a comparison, below please see thd n vs. power measurements, into 4 ohm load, of hypex nc252mp amplifier and of my a250w4r class ab amplifier (which has just average parameters for the class), measured at frequencies from 1khz to 20khz, with 90khz measuring bandwidth. i think the plots speak for themselves. As a power supplies i used mean well rs 100 24 modules, one per channel. this is the amplifier diy built in one of my prototype cases. technical parameters. input impedance 90kohm. voltage gain 30db. output noise voltage 22uv 20hz 22khz unweighted. output power 2 x 50w 4ohm. thd < 0.002% 40w 1khz 4ohm. Also the lm3886 board above does have balanced inputs and presumably does that. i think i'm primarily a bit nervous of gains etc. i note that the 3e tpa3255 has a fixed gain of around 21.5db. using my interface's output voltage of c.2.5v, that should mean that the output of the amp is c.30v which would then equate to 225w output per channel.
