My Thoughts On Parasitic Current Draw Page 2 Subaru Outback Forums

Heck, considering today's electronics, maybe my parasitic draw is related to my modification, but i don't think so. they didn't charge me a cent (on a 6 8 year old subie) and sold me a new battery at a very competitive price. through brilliant analysis and extensive research, however, i found an effective solution. My thoughts on parasitic current draw. i own a 2015 outback, and have owned it since it was built. over the years, i've had issues, issues that led me to change the battery two weeks after taking delivery of the car. i purchased an optima red top, and since then, until a few months ago, haven't had a dead battery but a rare few times since.

As a member of one gm forum, members shared dead battery issues with similar parasitic amperage draw but measured at 250 ma, a quarter of an amp every 15 minutes. other threads here regarding dead batteries mention 1.4a (that’s 1400ma) continuous when vehicle off due to a bad hu. that would definitely drain your battery in two or three days. Dec 23, 2022. #1. hi, this winter storm is kicking my ass, our 2021 outback has “died” for the last 3 mornings, not enough juice to start. i’ve had the battery tested and it indicates “good” but still won’t stay charged during the night. when i put my jumper cables on the battery it reads 12.3 amps but won’t turn over.

My 2016 subaru outback has a similar problem, an intermittent parasitic current draw . as long as you drive the car every three days to keep the battery charged there's no problem. subaru claims they have a software fix for this and a pending lawsuit about the issue. Drive the car around to fully charge the battery. test the voltage on the battery before and after. drive the car around again to fully charge the battery. pull fuse #9 dcm. test the voltage on the battery before and after. this wouldn't give me an exact measurement and i can't see the draw directly, but at least i can help isolate the issue.
