The jefferson county sheriff’s office is celebrating the promotions of nine members of the command staff. the sheriff’s office now has 4 new deputy chiefs and 5 new captains. sheriff pettway addressed the newly promoted staff and thanked them for their years of hard work and service. those promoted to the rank of deputy chief are: deputy. The promotions are lt. kashonda thompkins to major; sgt. terry wingard to lieutenant; and investigators dennis kendall, sandra harper and michael musgrove to sergeant. according to a news release, their promotions are a direct result of their hard work and dedication to the sheriff's office and the citizens of jefferson county. Saturday night just before 11 p.m., deputies with the jefferson county sheriff’s office were dispatched to crown hill cemetery on a report of a gunshot wound.
