Valeros and kyra both have 20, but valeros has 2 more con and is a fighter. classes have a static hp bonus per level, and different races grant different hp bonuses at level 1. then of course con. that is interesting though, kyra & valeros are both human & i can't imagine clerics being granted more hp than fighters.

So i've been thinking about assurance and it's usefulness, and it looks like it's all going to be on your gm's style. i know when i gm, i generally don't separate what's making this harder (so impose penalties) vs. the task itself being harder (so increase the dc). but with assurance on the field, if you gm doesn't use, or rarely uses penalties.
