Peter h. hassrick. peter heyl hassrick (april 27, 1941 – october 25, 2019) was an american museum curator, art historian, and the author or editor of many exhibition catalogues about western american art. In 2007, former director of the institute peter h. hassrick initiated the petrie institute of western american art’s annual symposium. each year, invited scholars of art and history present their thoughts and research on an array of topics related to the art of the west to enthusiastic audiences.
