First In India Male Bharat Me Pratham Purush In 2022 General In sanskrit, lakar (लकार) adds tense and mood to a dhatu. lakaras are those pratyayas which add grammatical tense (time) related and grammatical mood related information to a dhatu. the process of adding lakar to a dhatu converts a dhatu into a verb. there are 10 lakaras in all. 6 of them indicate tense and 4 of them indicate mood. Verb classification (धारुरूप dhaaturuupa): in chapter 1 and 3 we learnt about verb forms. each verb has: 10 tenses or लकार (lakaara). we have seen out of the 10 tenses 5 are enough for all our day to day needs; 3 persons or पुरुष (पुरुष) 3rd person (प्रथमपुरुष prathamapurusha. Nominative case प्रथमा विभक्ति (prathamaa vibhakti): nominative case or प्रथमा विभक्ति (prathamaa vibhakti) represents the noun form to represent the "who" or "what" on the verb in the sentence. in other words nominative case represents the subject or कर्ता (kartaa) of the sentence. In sanskrit, the nominal form of a noun is called pratipadika (stem). every pratipadika takes many forms based on the vibhakti (case), the ending letter, the gender and the vachan (number). by applying the 7 vibhaktis, every pratipadika can have 21 forms. this is called shabd roop (noun declension).
