G'day everyone,today i am going to be giving my thoughts on my mini mill that i have been using for almost half a year now. i bought it near the end of may 2. The mill was one of the best equipment related decisions i made for my knife making work shop. they truly are handy to have around and will increase the leve.
The sieg x2d mini mills are popular hobbiest machine tools, but the quality of the electronics is really, really poor. brand new, the mill i got from little. I traded the harbor freight mini mill with the adjustable column to someone that requires that feature and got a new sieg x2d with the solid column, larger table, and air shock. after a couple of days completely disassembling, cleaning, and repainting parts grey in color, i wanted the mill to be as accurate and precise as i could possibly make. The sieg x2d mini mill has drill press handles for drilling and fast motion of the mill's head. it also has z axis fine feed with 0.001" resolution for milling operations. this model also includes the air spring head support for even support throughout the z axis travel.
