Recently had one of my students tell a pregnant teacher that he wanted to punch her in the stomach. another student said, "you can't do that, she's pregnant!" the first student then said, "that's the point." these are 5th graders. this is also in a school that rarely has behavior problems, so this was quite a shock. During my second year student teaching (a teaching unpaid internship), a student brought a few bags of heroin to school in his backpack. he pulled them out in the hallway to show his friends before recess. he said " i brought treasure from home, my mom says it's worth more than me!" the kids were ooing and ahhing.
10. he swore something was hiding in the classroom. “i work with autistic 3rd graders. couple weeks ago had a kid that was in the middle of a meltdown…. screaming, crying, rolling around on a mat. all of a sudden he stops, sits up, points to the corner of the ceiling and says, ‘it’s hiding in the classroom.’.
