Core to the tourette association of america’s mission is raising awareness and social acceptance of tourette and tic disorders. awareness efforts include: advocacy & public policy efforts. social media awareness campaigns. tourette health & education program (cdc partnership) press announcements and media presence. youth ambassador program. Inspiring commitment. supporting tourette's voice for awareness has been incredibly fulfilling. watching the organization provide invaluable resources and support to those affected by tourette's syndrome is inspiring. their work in fostering understanding and promoting inclusion is truly transformative. Tourette syndrome (ts) is a neurological disorder that may cause sudden unwanted and uncontrolled rapid and repeated movements or vocal sounds called tics. ts is one of a group of disorders of the developing nervous system called tic disorders. the motor (involving body movement) or vocal (involving sounds you make) tics of ts come and go over. The tourette health and education program has conducted more than 1,350 educational events for professionals and community members in all 50 states in the united states, as well as in washington, dc, the us virgin islands, puerto rico, st. maarten, and canada. additionally, more than 50 webinars have been held virtually, with no state affiliation.
