I used to have a 20r in it but changed the engine last year. i just put the old distributor on the 22r but it was hesitating and missing, so i bought a distributor from a 22r and installed that. the old distributor just had one wire going from the coil to a post on the distributor cap. the 22r distributor has a two wire round plug coming off it. 2045 posts · joined 2000. #7 · aug 29, 2007. the only way to test it is to use an oscilliscope, which is beyond the scope of most fawkers. it's generally easier to buy a spare and "test" it that way. the 22r ignitor assembly can be adapted to easily available gm parts search if you're interested in trying it.
