1 prepare a shoebox. for optimum space, use a large shoebox and keep the lid attached. positioning the box upright also provides the vertical space needed for tall rainforest trees. keep the box lid permanently fixed at a 90 degree angle by attaching a small box at the bottom portion of the hinge. use a glue gun or tacky glue to keep the small. These printables worked perfectly with our rainforest diorama. the kids learned the rainforest layers, animals and got to look back on their pages while they built their diorama. i have these available for you in my tpt store. this pack includes: rainforest animals fact sheets – 2 pages rainforest layers writing activity – 2 pages.
Step 8: making the pond. take some fondant, knead it with a little bit of sugar to prevent stickiness. then shape it to fit the pond. next paint the fondant with a teal colour (i mixed sky blue, green, and white to make the teal paint). place the fondant inside of the circle that was made out of soil and rocks. 1. start with the shoebox turned upside down to maximize space of the rainforest. 2. paste a color photo of a tropical rainforest to use as a backdrop for the diorama. print out this free image of a tropical rainforest. 3. create a simple river design by carefully gluing the tan rocks into the shape of a river. Tip 1: use realistic materials. i always try to use realistic materials when creating a rainforest diorama. this helps to make the diorama look more authentic and engaging for kids. some materials that work well include: realistic looking artificial plants and trees. moss, rocks, and pebbles. sand, dirt, and gravel.
