E30 M20 Idle Issues Youtube M20 starts then dies. evening folks back with another problem. engine in question is a m20 2.7 stroker (rebuilt hartge h27 lump), recently had a problem were when i started the engine the revs would go straight to 3000rpm, turned out to be the throttle cable in the wrong clip on the tb, keeping the throttle open, all sorted now though. In this guide, we will show you the correct procedure for stripping and rebuilding an m20 cylinder head. this includes 2.0, 2.3, 2.5 litre engines. for the benefit of the guide, we will be using an m20 2.5 head. required tools; female torx socket; old timing belt. lockable grips; 8mm spanner; 10mm spanner; 3mm allen key; 11mm deep 1 4" drive socket. 1) remove the 13mm bolts from the water pump housing and pull the water pump off. your new pump can be used as a guide to find the bolts. 2) wipe the water pump mounting area free of debris and old gasket material. 3) bolt the new pump and gasket to the block. be careful not to tear the new gasket.
