Wolf Ranger Barbarian вђ Artofit Ranger barbarian multiclass. i'm trying to create fitz from the farseer trilogy, he's an enforcer and assassin for the king. he fights with a battle axe and is bonded to a wolf through magic. at this point in the story he has poor control over a mental magic. beastmaster ranger is the obvious choice but mixing in a wild magic barbarian sounds. The best combination in my mind is horizon walker with beast barbarian. hw can't really benefit from bonus action attacks, but the beast barbarian gets a free claw attack at 3rd level. so initially you'd get claw claw and at hw 5 you'd get weapon claw claw and if you were okay with stepping on the toes of planar warrior you could pick up.
Wolf Ranger Barbarian вђ Artofit The fey wanderer also gets summon fey as a class feature and can call upon an ally creature to also get the benefit of the wolf totem barb ability, as well as dimension door to get themselves and the barbarian out of trouble in a pinch. the survivability and damage output needed for the frontline, but with good back up options in case things go. The barbarian takes half damage from most melee types during rage (he, not the pet) and gwm 2h attacks do a lot more damage. yeah, the ranger can do the same damage, but hitting characters with gwm penalty on gets harder and harder unless you have a party focused in incapacitate effects, while reckless attack just gives the barbarian permanent.
