8 Writer S Workshop Modeling And Guiding The Writing Process In Students learn about the writing process and what good writer's do during a weekly writer's workshop. see the lesson plan at oise.utoronto.ca bala. The workshop is comprised of three major parts: mini lesson, independent practice, and share time. the mini lesson this is when the teacher gives explicit instruction of the craft of writing. the teacher may use a modeled writing lesson or interactive writing.
Guiding Writers List Writing A Kindergarten Writing Unit This explicit instruction lasts for five to ten minutes. the teacher is actually writing during the mini lesson in a way that all students can see it. this could be on your projector, smartboard, chart paper, etc. at the beginning of the year, the mini lesson might be closer to the five minute mark. The mini lesson is still the same, but we emphasize the writing of sentences more than we do in kindergarten. kindergarten writing paper just has a few lines, while the first grade paper has many. here are a few examples from the same first lesson in writer’s workshop in first grade. the writing on the left reads, it’s my birthday.
