Year plan – curriculum overview. the following are suggested mathematics year plans for grades three, four and five. these plans take into consideration development of foundational math concepts and competencies over the year with spacing in between learning experiences to build and deepen understanding over time. Weekly schedule & week plans. our bc curriculum framework is built on literacy and numeracy foundations. most of our grades 3 5 instructional time is focused on developing students’ literacy and numeracy. it is suggested that mathematics instruction is about an hour a day with other opportunities throughout the day to engage with mathematics. Lesson plan overviews provide an overview of all the lessons for the course. they can be a valuable planning tool as teachers scope out the year and for keeping track of where you’re going. digital versions are available on our website under each subject. they are also included in printed form in the front matter of your teacher editions. Long range plans. a long range plan outlines a year long plan for learning mathematics. a thoughtfully developed long range plan ensures that instruction is sequenced in a manner that aligns with research about learning mathematics and allocates the appropriate time for concepts and skills so that students have multiple opportunities to focus. Even without the detail, there should be three components to your yearly planning: a yearlong plan, unit or topic overviews, and daily lesson plans. these three components ensure that you can meet your district’s curriculum objectives, account for assessments, tie in content from different subjects, and meet your student’s needs.
